About

Welcome to the McGregor Independent School District! On behalf of the Board of Trustees, the faculty, staff, and administration, it is my pleasure to share a few of my favorite things about our district.

Our district is growing and will continue to grow. Student enrollment is up 30% since 2000. Thanks to the vision of school and community leaders, there is a plan in place to continue to grow McGregor and McGregor ISD. Vision 2030 outlines this plan for growth. In July 2017, a new 400 unit housing development will break ground along the Highway 84 corridor. This new neighborhood will allow more families to access the amenities of McGregor and our outstanding school system.

Our students excel in every endeavor. They have established a tradition of success in academics, athletics, and the arts, and they routinely earn accolades at the district, post-district, and state levels of competition. In the 2016-2017 school year, we were notified by the College Board that yet another MHS senior was named a National Merit Scholar. The district was also placed on the 7th Annual AP District Honor Roll for expanding opportunity and improving performance for Advanced Placement students; McGregor ISD was one of only 23 districts in Texas to earn this recognition!

Our graduates are prepared for life. Whether they plan to go to college, enlist in the military, or enter the workforce, our students leave McGregor with the tools they need to be successful. MHS graduates are accepted into some of the finest colleges and universities in the country and  annually receive over $1 million in scholarships. Many of our graduates return to McGregor to raise their families, serve on the school board, lead in city government, and make McGregor a better place to live and learn.

Our teachers are innovators. They recognize the importance of preparing students to succeed in the 21st century; they develop students who are collaborators, communicators, and critical thinkers. To facilitate the development of all students, MISD has committed to providing our teachers and students with the tools they need to be successful. In 2012, MISD blazed a new trail and implemented to a 1:1 Mobile Learning Initiative at McGregor High School that provided every student with a mobile learning device. Today, we boast a 1:1 student to device ratio in grades 2-12.

Our community supports our school and our school supports our community. Our community has funded over $35 million in improvements on our campuses in the last decade. They have rallied behind the newly formed MISD Education Foundation and contributed over $100,000 in its first year of existence. They serve the district as board members, volunteers, and Bulldog fans. Our students recognize the commitment the community has made to them and work hard to give back to their town. They volunteer their time throughout the year to support the citizens of McGregor. In 2016, The Revolution was founded to dedicate a full day of service to our town.

In short, McGregor ISD is a great place to be. We have accomplished much, but we will not rest on our laurels. We are committed to working together to take the next steps to make success a reality for all of our students. I am excited about what the future holds for this great community and our school district. I encourage you to learn more about McGregor ISD and the exciting opportunities available to you in McGregor.

Yours in Education,

James Lenamon
