Tips for Remote Learners and Parents

Instructional Minutes Requirement
  • Full Day PK/Kindergarten-5th Grade - 180 minutes
  • 6th-12th Grade - 240 minutes
  • Minutes are tracked through the Learning Management System
Attendance
  • Attendance is measured by daily participation in learning activities, interaction with the teacher, and submission of completed assignments
  • Attendance is tracked on a daily basis
Truancy
  • State law dictates that if a student is absent 10 or more days or parts of days within a six-month period, the student's parents are subject to prosecution, and the student is subject to referral to truancy court.
STAAR Testing
  • Students in STAAR tested grades/subjects will take the STAAR test
Parent/Guardian Role
  • Participate in teacher conferences
  • Inform the school of changes in address, email address or phone number
  • Check for communications from the school
  • Reviewing student's work
  • Read/write/listen/practice skills/talk to your student
  • Encourage students to be respectful
  • Ensure work posted in Google Classroom/Class Dojo is completed
  • Respond to teacher communication during prescribed times
